Two weeks at Google
I’ve been a new Googler for the last two weeks (or Noogler as they like to call us). I’m having a wonderful time and have already grown accustomed to tons of free food. I’m very confused on the weekend when nobody gives me food ><.
The engineering talent at Google tremendous and Google culture is intellectual, but fun. I was surprised to find out that many of my favorite authors work for Google (such as Joshua Block and Scott Pilgrim) and have offices within a 3 minute walk from me.
However, I’m not as huge a fan of Mountain View. I’m living in a suburbia and it’s hard to get around without a car. I wanted to go to a movie last night but we had no way of getting there except by taxi. Besides that, the weather has been gorgeous everyday. No rain and blue skies throughout. In fact I’m starting to miss the sound of rain.

Trust me, the Rain is getting to be a pain in the ass right now. We’re right smack dab in the middle of Orientation week and Rain is very bad for outside events.
Glad to hear you’re having fun at Google though, sir!
Glad you’re having fun! While I was at Google I used the insane deal you can get with Budget / Hertz (I don’t remember which), rented a car for around 6 months for ~£600.
Mountain View is a great place but I recommend trying the Irvine / Santa Monica offices if you apply back, SoCal is a great place to live.
Have fun!
Not sure where you’re living but it’s pretty easy to get anywhere with a bike – trust me, I lived 40 miles outside of Boston and that was suburbia. I live in Mountain View and commute to Stanford every day by bike. Hope you get the chance to really discover Mountain View (downtown Castro) or even the City.
Seriously, how are you so smart.
I applied for facebook jobs fr co op this term. no luck.
Hi Andrew,
It is a pleasure to meet with you. I am looking for the best person to speak with about test and measurement for user equipment within Google Kitchener and your name keep popping up. This is the only means I have seen to contact you so if you could kindly send me at email or call me at 613-591-6778 I would love to talk about or protocol test equipment.
Thank you, Tina Newhook
